Ethical porn site shows difference between US vs UK viewing preferences, and there's one key contrast

Funnily enough, it turns out that the general public isn't just using the internet to check on their old school friends via Facebook, watching the latest hit series on Netflix, and scrolling through X for the latest updates on who Elon Musk is arguing with.

The most popular website in the world is officially (and unsurprisingly) Google, but if you scroll down the list through the likes of YouTube and Reddit, No. 22 on the list is Pornhub. Although there are wild reports that the adult entertainment site is bleeding one million users every day as it faces bans in numerous US states and age verification rules across Europe, Pornhub is still said to have 858 million unique monthly visitors.

Still, as LADbible's 'For F**k's Sake' campaign reports that 77% of Gen Z internet users will admit to watching pornography, is it any surprise that Pornhub is one of the most popular sites around? With a continued debate about the ethics surrounding porn and the United Kingdom trying to ban the category of strangulation pornography, there's been a rise in more ethical adult entertainment

sites.

Pornhub itself has warned that the age verification restrictions could be pushing users into darker corners of the internet where the age of performers and consent aren't verified, but away from all of this, Ersties has branded itself as an "independent adult entertainment platform, created by women, and focused on female pleasure."

Putting its own spin on Spotify Wrapped or Pornhub's Year in Review, the 2025 Ethical Porn Trends Report reveals how we've been watching 'skin flicks' and 'bingeing on corn'.

Alongside the top three categories being related to an*l, squ*rt, and threesome, Ersties has also claimed there's a specific time and day we tend to get our rocks off, as well as a big difference between Gen Z and Millennial users.

Now, the site suggests that those in the United Kingdom and the USA are looking at very different content.

Although the videos of "Chloe’s C Sexual Fantasy” and “Tinder in Real Life 5” dominated in both countries, the way in which we engage in X-rated materials differs between continents.

Ersties say that those in the UK tend to lean toward "emotionally driven and sensory-focused encounters," which includes formats that "emphasise connection, communication, and gradual build-up."

As for the USA, viewers there favor "dynamic, challenge-based formats, especially the action-focused portions of “Tinder in Real Life 5"." This is said to indicate "a strong appetite for playful, high-energy interactions within an ethical, real-people context."

Elsewhere, the USA showed a divide between New York and Los Angeles, with those in the Big Apple having a preference for 'intimacy-oriented narratives' that "highlight emotional chemistry, eye contact, and genuine connection."

People in The City of Angels wanted 'competition-driven formats,' that's said to reflect "the city’s cultural affinity for entertainment, improvisation, and performance."

Ersties concludes that ethical porn consumers tend to tailor their viewing toward mood, context, and cultural taste instead of just a quick desire.
