It's that time of the year again, with the various yearly roundups revealing what we've been watching, listening to, and buying – proving once again that we spend far too much time on our phones.
The numerous year-in-review wraps show 2025's biggest trends, and in case you haven't been keeping an eye on the news, pornography has been a big point of discussion over the past 12 months.
Instead of getting busy between the sheets, the adult entertainment industry has largely been dominated by controversy in 2025.

Elsewhere, the likes of Italy and France have attempted to instigate their own restrictions, and the United Kingdom has faced a campaign from Conservative peer Baroness Gabrielle Bertin to ban strangulation and choking porn alongside other types of sex acts.

Pornhub has spoken out with worries that users will be pushed toward seedier sites that don't have the same verification processes, leading to a much wider debate about the adult entertainment industry.

In case you don't know, Gen Z covers those born between 1997 and 2012, Millennials covers 1981 and 1996, and Gen X is 1965 and 1980.
Ersties says that Millennials and Gen X tend to prefer narrative fantasies and 'slower-burn intimacy', Gen Z's younger age bracket means they 'embrace' the gameshow wave. Opting for the site's popular "Tinder in Real Life 5" video, Ersties says that Gen Z "treat these formats like reality TV, fun, flirty, and easy to binge."

Ersties states: "That playful, amateur, early-internet vibe strikes a chord that feels familiar, less polished, and more human with them.
