Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have destroyed an insane Instagram record with their surprise engagement post.
The singer took to Instagram to announce her engagement to football player Kelce after the pair began dating back in 2023.
Yesterday (August 26), the couple shocked the world when they posted a series of photos from their proposal with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
In the first pic, Kelce could be seen kneeling on one knee in front of Swift holding a ring box while another snap displays the enormous diamond ring, estimated to be worth a whopping $550,000.

According to a report by the New York Post, Swift’s ring is ‘an old mine brilliant-cut diamond in a gold bezel setting, which was designed by Kelce himself with the help of Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry’.
In the images, Swift is wearing a $400 blue and white striped Polo Ralph Lauren dress while Kelce has a navy cable knit Polo Ralph Lauren sweater.
Probably unsurprisingly, Swift’s dress sold out within 20 minutes of the post going live.

The post now has over 27 million likes at the time of writing and has broken a record for the amount of reposts it received.
The announcement hit a million reposts in under six hours and had gained 14 million likes within the first hour of it being posted.
Plenty of people have been reacting to the news on social media, with even Starbucks weighing in with their thoughts.
The coffee giant joked: “Are we supposed to keep posting about PSL like nothing happened?”

One user wrote: “Very interesting that Taylor Swift got engaged mere months after I did. Get your own thing.”

Another said: “Can’t believe that on July 8th, 2023, @likethe309, Travis Kelce and I all walked into Arrowhead Stadium to attend the Eras Tour and now one of us is marrying Taylor Swift.”
Bizarrely, even President Donald Trump has shared his thoughts on the engagement after being asked by reporters about it during a cabinet meeting when the news broke.

The president said: “Well, I wish them a lot of luck. I think it’s - I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy and I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”
Trump had previously been a critic of Swift after she publicly endorsed Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election.
Not known to keep his feelings to himself, Trump took to his own social media platform Truth Social to write at the time: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”
