Steve Jobs' widow, Laurene Powell Jobs, has kept his legacy alive by honouring his final wish.

Steve Jobs transformed Apple into one of the most iconic companies in history, revolutionising technology and leading the launch behind the world's first iPhone.

When Jobs passed away in 2011, he left behind more than patents and products, and his widow, Laurene Powell Jobs, has been quietly shaping his influence beyond Silicon Valley.

Jobs left nearly his entire estate, valued at $14.1 billion with 5.5 million Apple shares and a 7.3% controlling stake in Disney, to Powell Jobs.

Occasionally in the public eye for posting her lavish lifestyle, including her late husband's $120 million superyacht, Powell Jobs maintains a low profile and channels her resources toward causes that matter.

“I inherited this fortune from someone who never cared about accumulating wealth,” she previously stated.

Following her husband's death, Powell Jobs has only given a small number of interviews, focusing her time and efforts on real-world challenges. As the founder and president of Emerson Collective, Powell Jobs invested a whopping $5 billion into environmental justice, health, immigration and education.

According to some reports, the serial American entrepreneur has already given away roughly half of her inheritance.

Her strategy tackles pressing global issues such as climate change, social justice and equal opportunity. In 2021, she launched the Waverley Street Foundation, pledging $3.5 towards solutions for communities facing the worst impacts of climate change.

She's also the founder and board chair of College Track, an organisation helping first-generation students graduate from college, and co-founded and chairs the XQ Institute, which reimagines American high schools as centres of innovation and rigorous learning.

Beyond that, the businesswoman has poured funding into journalism outlets, education reform, and community empowerment efforts that all reflect the late Jobs' values of improving lives.

In 2025, Powell Jobs honoured one of her late husband's most personal dreams, a wish he'd expressed decades earlier in a private letter.

Long after Steve Jobs changed Apple forever, Powell Jobs has been quietly defining how his impact lives on outside the tech world. She attended the Maha Kumbh Mela in India, a massive spiritual gathering Steve Jobs had long hoped to experience but never got the chance to visit.

According to news agency ANI, she was welcomed to the camp dressed in a peach-yellow salwar suit and warmly received as an honoured guest.

At the time of writing, Powell Jobs has a net worth of $13.7 billion, as per Forbes.
