Most of us probably have some old DVDs, classic consoles or valuable retro PS1 games that could be worth blowing the dust off once you realise how much cash they could be hiding.

While streaming has primarily taken over DVD collections, some titles still hold some value.

One woman proved it by buying an entire collection of DVDs at a garage sale.

Crazy? She doesn't think so, especially with the cash she's raked in from it.

YouTuber The Picking Gilla recorded her haul at the garage sale, where DVDs, CDs and Blu-rays were going for a steal of: '5-for-$1.'

Gilla, real name Heidi, originally only picked up 35 DVDs and TV box sets for an even $7, but ended up returning later that day to buy the entire stock.

"The big reason I decided to buy all of the DVDs was because there were DVDs I didn't recognise, a lot of Blu-rays I didn't recognise, and that could mean pretty good value a lot of the time," Heidi admitted.

"There was also a lot of TV series which do really well for me as well."

The reseller later paid $60 to take the rest of the DVDs home.

Sorting through her haul, she divided them into groups: those worth selling individually, popular franchises like The Lord of the Rings and Marvel movies she could sell as bundle sets, and the ones she’d get rid of entirely.

"If they're at least worth five dollars plus shipping, I'm saving them and gonna list them," she described.

Six months or so after her pick-up in December 2022, she posted an update that she sold a total of 122 items and made a solid $1,140.65.

After deducting $67 for the DVDs, $200 in fees, and $31.72 for shipping supplies, she made a profit of $841.93.

She also briefed that there were other minor costs she didn't include like repair kits and Disc Doctor.

With the remaining DVDs she hadn't yet sold, she estimated she’d earn another $715.93, bringing her total net profit to a whopping $1,414.14 - which is pretty impressive for the small value DVDs hold.

People were stunned by her success in grabbing major value for DVD resales in this day and age.

"Jeez, that's a lot of DVDs! $60 is the deal of the century, considering how much you already made selling just over 120 of them and there's still more left! Great stuff!" the first user replied.

"Very nice buy and resell! That is crazy but awesome I can’t believe you bought everyone of them! Kudos on your resales," another added.

"Wow that's a steal. What an incredible price. Over here they usually charge at least £1 a disk and more on boxsets," a third chimed in.
