Elon Musk has explained why he thinks that X could no longer exist after today’s election.

The presidential election comes to a head today (November 5) as millions of Americans make their way to the voting booths.

With both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump going neck and neck for the top job, billionaire Musk has weighed in.

This isn’t the first time Musk has shared his opinion about the race for president, the tech mogul has been very vocal in the last few weeks.

Throwing his support behind Trump, the Tesla boss also found himself in controversy after being accused of running an ‘illegal lottery’ in a bid to get the Republican candidate back into power.

In an interview with Joe Rogan for an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Musk shared his own theory on what could happen to his social media platform after the election.

Musk acquired X, formerly Twitter, in 2022 but he fears that the site might soon meet its end.

Talking to Rogan, the SpaceX CEO spoke about his ongoing battle with advertisers boycotting his platform.

He said: “I think if Trump wins, we’ll see probably most of the boycott lift but if Kamala wins, we’ll see that boycott get stronger and they’ll friggin’ shut down.

“There’s no way that sort of Kamala puppet regime will allow X to exist.”

Rogan responded: “You really think that they’ll be able to shut it down though. Is there a pathway to that?”

When Musk said ‘yes’, Rogan pushed the billionaire as to what they would do.

Musk went on to say: “Um, well, I mean, they can just - they can seek the DOJ [Department of Justice] on and say, they’ve had this whole thing about hate speech, misinformation, whatever, except that they’re the ones pushing this misinformation.

“But that doesn’t stop them from filing massive lawsuits and using the DOJ.”

Later on in the interview, Musk went on to claim: “If you don’t have freedom of speech, you don’t have democracy. If you don’t have freedom of speech, people cannot make an informed vote. If they are just being fed propaganda and there is no freedom of speech, democracy is an illusion.”

Musk is being sued by the Philadelphia DA for his $1 million daily ‘prize’ in the lead up to the election.

In order to be in with a chance of winning the life changing amount, Musk required registered voters to sign a petition said to promote ‘free speech and the right to bear arms’.

The lawsuit states: “America PAC and Elon Musk are running an illegal lottery in Philadelphia (as well as throughout Pennsylvania).”

In the claim, it is specified that at the rally on October 19, Musk said any registered voter would be eligible to win the money if they handed over personal information and signed the petition to pledge ‘support for the constitution’.

The lawsuit continues: “That is a lottery, and it is indisputably an unlawful lottery.”

It also states that all lotteries in Pennsylvania must be regulated by the state according to state law.
