It has been over six months now since Charlie Kirk was assassinated, and his suspected killer is currently facing the latter stages of trial that would likely lead to the death penalty if he is found to be guilty.
The assassination took place during a scheduled talk at Utah Valley University, which was one of the stops on Kirk's 'American Comeback' tour, and it took law enforcement several days to apprehend 22-year-old Tyler Robinson.
Robinson was handed into officials by a family member but FBI agents also managed to discover key evidence potentially linking the college student to the crime, including DNA information at the scene of the crime, bullets with messages inscribed on them, and conversations regarding the incident on Discord.
Kirk's widow, Erika, has since called for Robinson's trial to be broadcast and filed a speedy trial motion to ensure that it would be completed within a set period of time, and the preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for May 18.

One key individual who was close to Kirk prior to his death has repeatedly cast doubt on claims that Robinson is the killer, however, as Candace Owens has shared a new bold claim that the law might have got this one wrong.
Responding to new filings that suggest the bullet used to kill Kirk isn't necessarily linked to the rifle tied to Robinson, Owens wrote on X:
"Where are all my neocons who have been 'overwhelmed' by the non existent evidence against Tyler Robinson? You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Hope the money was worth your soul."
She added that she was "feeling like Turning Point USA execs at the funeral" in response to the new claims, taking another jab at Erika Kirk who has been a consistent target for Owens since her close friend's assassination.
Additionally, she has released a YouTube video in response to the new court filings, asking people to 'prove her wrong' that Tyler Robinson "is a patsy," suggesting that he is a scapegoat or fall guy who has been framed for a crime he didn't committ.
This plays into larger conspiracies that Owens has repeatedly expressed since Kirk's death, including claims that France, Egypt, Israel, and even Kirk's own security team were behind his assassination.
Owens has claimed that Kirk has been "marked since he was a child," but these conspiracies have led to protestations from Erika, who spoke to CBS News and asked the controversial figure to "Stop. That's it. That's all I have to say. Stop."
