Anonymous has been slammed by Trump supporters after the group shared a brutal statement on the new pope.

The ‘hacktivist’ group is well known for their cyber attacks, often targeting websites in order to disrupt groups and systems that they have deemed to be unethical or illegal.

Anonymous often supports social movements and fights against censorship.

Their aim appears to be on raising awareness about these issues or injustices that they deem to be important.

Since the announcement of the new pope yesterday (May 8), the group has taken to social media to share its comments.

On X, formerly Twitter, the Anonymous account posted: “The new Pope says MAGA is not Christian.”

— Anonymous (@YourAnonCentral) May 8, 2025

This is after tweets from Robert Prevost, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV, resurfaced where he shared his criticism of the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

Referencing a comment Vice President JD Vance made about Christians needing to ‘prioritize’ their love, Pope Leo XIV wrote: “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.”

It seems Trump supporters aren’t taking the news well, with Anonymous sharing a comment they received which read: “I’ve had enough of your lying bulls*** engagement farming. F***ing BLOCKED, and I suggest everyone else do the same.”

Commenting on the remark, Anonymous wrote: “MAGA isn’t taking this new Pope thing very well…”

This prompted a response from other users who took to the comment section to share their own thoughts.

One user wrote: “Yeah, turning away from those less fortunate is not Christian-like.”

Another said: “idk about you but all i hear is: ‘WAAA!’”

A third person commented: “I’m MAGA & I could care less what he says what so ever!”

A fourth said: “It’s another MAGA meltdown.”

And a fifth person added: “MAGA doesnt take anything beyond their own confirmation bias well…”

Anonymous has previously made public statements against the Trump administration, with a recent video being aimed at the president and Elon Musk, highlighting the potential dangers of ‘Project Russia’.

In the clip, the group said: “The writing is on the f***ing wall, Trump, Musk, and Putin are playing a dangerous game.”

The group continued: “Now add Musk, pulling the strings in the US government’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency, slashing public programs while sucking up power, and we've got the perfect storm for democratic destruction.”

As you can imagine, that didn’t go down too well with Musk!
