More and more people are using ChatGPT every single day, yet there are some little-known tips and tricks that you can employ to make your searches on the AI tool far more efficient and effective.

ChatGPT has firmly taken over the world in the time since its November 2022 release, with record sign up numbers reported after each of the artificial intelligence model's major new releases.

While some have expressed their frustrations at the way certain updates change how the model communicates – especially in circles where certain people have fallen in love with their AI companion – plenty of other people wish that the whole experience was just a bit more streamlined.

Thankfully, power users on the r/ChatGPT subreddit have revealed a simple yet incredibly effective new trick that you can use to make every prompt the best it can be, and it might not be what you'd expect.

Commenting on a threat about prompts you wish everyone knew, u/SimpleAccurate631 had this genius bit of advice to share:

"Ask it to review your prompt and give you a revised version that is best suited for an AI prompt. Then just copy and paste its response in the next message. Often times it optimizes your prompt in ways you wouldn't think of."

Artificial intelligence is a tool after all and has methods and conditions that it works best in and others where it struggles, yet sometimes it can be tricky from a user perspective to work those own on your own.

Who better to ask than the AI itself for advice though, and often you can get a much clearer, more informative, and efficient answer to whatever you're asking by employing this very method.

You can use it for anything from looking for restaurant recommendations to coding requests, so definitely try it out next time you're badgering ChatGPT for something.

One user in the replies has correctly identified that this process is called 'scaffolding', and is one of the most useful things you can recommend especially to someone that is using AI for the first time.

While seasoned users will know the ins and outs of how each tool works, and be able to say the right things to get it to do what you want, a new user might struggle and therefore taking advantage of this method will help fill in the gaps and get you in the right place every time.

Some people have even used AI tools to write their prompts for other models, with one commenter revealing that they use ChatGPT to write what they ask Sora – OpenAI's video generation software – to create.

One thing you should definitely watch out for are hallucinations though, as AI can just as easily add things that you didn't ask for into this 'optimized' prompt that can give you a different, unintended, and even perhaps incorrect outcome.
