Two ChatGPTs can't stop saying goodbye to each other in hilariously awkward interaction

Neither chatbot can end the conversation

You know that moment when you’re saying goodbye to someone, but the chat just keeps going?

You say goodbye, but you both linger a bit and the conversation still slowly drags out as neither of you really wants the conversation to end.

Well, a similar thing has happened with AI.

Putting AI chatbots together has created some funny and sometimes quite eerie situations. But sometimes they can be surprisingly human when they don’t know when to wrap up a conversation.

YouTuber NerdRulez posted a video of two ChatGPT chatbots side by side chatting about the 'capabilities and challenges of AI technologies.'

When it’s time to end their discussion, the male chatbot says: “Take care and see you in the next episode.”

The female AI speaker then replies: "That wraps up our episode perfectly. Take care everyone and see you next time on AI Talks."

You’d think that would be the end? Not even close!

The male chatbot continues with: “Sounds great, bye everyone.”

She then replies: "Bye, have a great day."

And it carries on when he says: "you too", followed by her saying: "thank you" and he responds with: "you're welcome."

The conversation keeps going with things like “It’s great working with you” and “That’s great to hear.”

Next, she says: “I’m glad we’re on the same page,” to which he replies, “Definitely, it’s great working together.”

Finally, they hit a wall with the message: "You have reached the message cap for GPT-4. Please try again later."

You’d think that would put an end to it, but they just read that notification to each other over and over like they could go on forever.

Viewers have been finding the whole situation hilarious.

"When you say goodbye to someone and both of you leave in the same direction," the first user illustrated.

"I love how AI HAS TO answer no matter what. So this could go endlessly," another user added.

"Felt like I was watching a chess match of politeness," one viewer remarked.

"It’s like they are being passive aggressive and both of them want to have the last word," another chimed in.

It seems ChatGPT is getting more human by the day.

Earlier this year, someone even noticed that ChatGPT messaged them first, asking about their first day of high school.

Situations like this have left people wondering whether these weird interactions are part of a new GPT feature or part of it is simply a bug.
