Xbox Series X users can instantly improve graphics with one quick settings change

There's a one-stop solution for better gaming.

If you read anything about the world of tech, it can sometimes feel like there's an assumption that we're all gaming on the most premium and flagship 4K TVs on the market.

That's completely untrue, of course - loads of us use older TVs or displays, because these upgrades are expensive and often not even that necessary.

If you're gaming on an Xbox Series X (or the smaller Series S) and you're using a display that might not be all that typical, though, it could be well worth your while to check out a really quick setting in the console's options, as explained by YouTuber Chad Reddings.

His straightforward video guide walks you through the process of checking your video output settings on Xbox Series X, with the most important thing first - Resolution.

This defines the output resolution of your console, and while it should almost always default to the highest possible resolution supported by the connected display, that doesn't always happen.

If, for example, it's actually set to 720p, then changing it to 1080p or 4K (whichever is available) will make for a massive, night and day difference in the sharpness of your display's image.

To check the setting, go to the Settings app on your Xbox, then go into the General section and select TV & display options. There's a drop-down box under the Resolution label - here you'll want to choose the highest option available.

Now, if you are gaming on a 4K TV or monitor, you should find that it's already outputting at that resolution, but if for any reason it isn't, be sure to change things. The tweak could be a little bit like putting on prescription glasses for the first time, with everything suddenly coming through clearly for the first time.

There are plenty of other settings and options in this part of the Xbox menu, though, so if you want to get further into the weeds on calibrating your display fully, be sure to watch the whole video from Chad Reddings, as there are plenty more little tidbits to try out.

Follow all the steps and you should find that your display experience takes a nice boost - getting you closer to the heights you would expect from the most powerful Xbox out there.
