
Microsoft is lighting up the Bat-Signal, and while video games surrounding the Caped Crusader have never truly gone away, it's safe to say the Batman franchise has dropped off a little in recent years.
After all, where was a brooding game based on Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight from 2022's The Batman?
The honor of the world's first Batman game goes to 1986's isometric Batman, but since then, we've had greats like Batman: The Telltale Series, Injustice 2, and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
While we're still disappointed that we never got Monolith's tie-in to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy never happened, Rocksteady Studios has given us something arguably better with its beloved trilogy of Arkham games.

Warner Bros. Montreal's Arkham Origins is confusingly canon to the Arkhamverse, while Rocksteady returned to the fold for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in 2024 – the less said about that, the better.
For many, the last truly great Batman game was 2015's Arkham Knight, and in the decade since the concluding chapter of the arc was released, its cult status has only improved.
Now, Xbox players can nab Batman: Arkham Knight for virtually nothing.

After turning 10 in June 2025, gamers can pick up Batman: Arkham Knight for just $3.99 on the Xbox Store. Better yet, this is the Premium Edition, which has had its price slashed from a $39.99 RRP.
Giving you plenty of bat for your buck, this version is playable on both Xbox One and Xbox Series, including the base game and a whopping 29 DLCs. While we'd admit most of these are just cosmetic packs, the Arkham Knight Premium Edition also includes story missions like the Batgirl-centric "A Matter of Family" prequel and the "Season of Infamy" add-on that focuses on Mr. Freeze, Ra's al Ghul, the Mad Hatter, and Killer Croc.
Given that 2011's Arkham City is held by some as one of the greatest video games of all time, Arkham Knight was always going to struggle to top its predecessor.
As well as the harshest critics calling out the Batmobile's tank missions, others complained about copy-and-paste missions, sometimes clunky controls, and a controversial (but predictable) reveal of who the Arkham Knight was.

Given how Kill the Justice League abandoned almost everything that made gamers fall in love with the Arkhamverse in favor of becoming a Destiny-inspired looter shooter, at least Arkham Knight's reception has mellowed with age.
That's not the only DC deal to be had, and if you race over to Steam, you can get all three Rocksteady Arkham games for just $8.99. You'll have to be quick because the deal only runs until October 23.
There have been plenty of Batman games since Arkham Knight was released, with Camouflaj's VR Batman: Arkham Shadow being praised as an improvement, and plenty of hype for the upcoming Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Still, Arkham Knight remains a last bastion of greatness.
For those who've never swooped down from the rooftops as a battered Bruce Wayne, or for those who simply want to remind themselves why Arkham Knight isn't as bad as some say, grab the keys to the Batmobile.
