The nature of game subscription services means that there's not always going to be something you're interested in every single month, yet that hasn't stopped some Game Pass subscribers from threatening Xbox with cancellation after seeing the lineup for this month.
Xbox has long claimed that Game Pass is the 'best deal in gaming' yet after a number of price increases and some rather unremarkable months, some don't quite see it the same way.
It certainly makes sense to subscribe to Game Pass if you own an Xbox console, as like PlayStation Plus you not only get access to free games every single month but also can play online with your friends, yet sometimes it feels like you're not getting your money's worth when it comes to the titles that are added.
Some subscribers have seemingly reached breaking point this month though, as the January 2026 lineup appears to be especially overwhelming for a select few who are now threatening to cancel their memberships in protest of the lackluster offerings.

Revealed today, the lineup includes bigger titles like Resident Evil: Village, Star Wars: Outlaws, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, alongside a number of 'smaller' titles that could certainly grab your attention.
It does arguably lack a big name that makes the month stand out though, especially compared to some recent months for PS Plus, and many have expressed their frustration on social media.
Taking to the replies on X, one user proclaimed: "Thanks for validating my cancellation of gamepass." Another simply remarked "no thanks," with a third adding a gif of people shovelling money into a furnace with the caption: "'I spend 30$ on gamepass'."
One of the biggest issues that some appear to have is the fact that a select few of these titles already exist on Game Pass, and are only present in the additions because they're moving from the most-expensive Ultimate tier to the slightly cheaper Premium selection.
These include Atomfall, Rematch, and The Eternal Die, whereas all of the other games are completely new to the service, but that's left a few feeling rather short changed.
"Re-adding games that have already been on and price hikes, Xbox cuckaroos are gonna slop it up," wrote one gamer in frustration, whereas others questioned why these were being highlighted if they were already on the service.
"Why do you always show games that's already on gamepass and promote it as new," questioned a third.
It's not all negative though, as there are still a number of people that are delighted with the offerings this month, including one that was just about to buy Star Wars: Outlaws but is now "glad to be able to try it out for free first."
