Rockstar Games is preparing another automotive adventure for launch, and while it's been 12 years (and counting) since GTA V became the most profitable entertainment product of all time, Grand Theft Auto has never been far from our lives.

Thanks to the ongoing success of GTA Online and various GTA V rereleases, the Grand Theft Auto franchise was already in a strong position before we were bombarded with years of leaks and rumors relating to GTA 6.

Rockstar took its sweet time announcing GTA 6, and while there have been some complaints that publisher Take-Two Interactive has largely been letting the foul-mouthed outing sell itself, the fact that it continues to break records before release is a good sign of things to come.

Even though GTA 6 has disappointingly been delayed until May 2026, we're told there won't be another delay - hoping we can avoid a Cyberpunk 2077 situation.

Although there's no direct deal between Take-Two and Sony, it looks like GTA 6 is pushing PlayStation, with the PS5 Pro looking like the definitive way to play the upcoming title, and some thinking they even spotted a PS6 in the latest trailer.

Still, as GTA 6 already quietly popped up on the PlayStation Store, Xbox owners have been feeling a little left out in the cold.

GTA fans are well aware that patience is a virtue, but finally, GTA 6 is available to wishlist on the Xbox Store.

Sadly, you can only wishlist the game, meaning there's no pre-order option, and we also don't know how much it'll cost. With rumors that the next entry will push past the $100 mark, the fact that Mario Kart World is taking Nintendo games to $80 isn't looking promising.

A month after GTA 6 appeared on PlayStation, Xbox owners could have the jump on their gaming rivals. Unlike PS5 owners, those on the Green Team can install GTA 6. This is admittedly only a 300 MB placeholder file, but it's more than the Blue Team gets.

Over on X, Xbox fans shared their joy that they're finally catching up.

One fan joked: "Death Stranding 2 got them nervous."

Another added: "The closest we’re ever going to get for now 😭😭."

One disgruntled gamer concluded: "Do you also load your refrigerator with empty cartons to save space for groceries? I think I'll be able to manage my storage without installing a placeholder, thank you very much."

There's no escaping the gravitational pull of GTA 6, with other publishers and developers rightly trying to clear their upcoming release out of its path. Poised to potentially be more than just the biggest game of 2026 but the biggest game of all time, the hype train for GTA 6 has well and truly rolled into town.
