Looks like the latest iOS update hasn't exactly had the most positive response, with many warning against downloading it after being branded the 'worst update yet'.

Apple's iOS updates usually bring life-altering features that can change the game in many different ways. They're often never the same, but there's typically always something that'll improve your daily iPhone usage included.

Such isn't the case, however, with the latest drop, as iOS 18.1.1 has proven to be most of the most controversial and frustrating feature drops in recent memory for iPhone users.

While one particular change appears to be the focus of many users' frustrations, it's also a cacophony of little adjustments that make the overall experience that much worse.

Social media has banded together to warn those who haven't yet taken the plunge from downloading, and it's quickly earned the title of 'worse update' - at least in a very long time.

Updates to the Photos app is of a particular focus for many, with users reporting issues with sharing photos or sound dropping out, and the updated look has proven to be extremely unpopular.

The new design has aimed to simplify things by condensing it into a 'one scroll experience', but many feel that the change has actually made using the Photos app more complex and less user friendly.

"This iOS 18.1.1 update is ASS." says one user on X (formerly Twitter), "In what world do you think it's a good idea to make things MORE complicated? Photos are a complete mess now [facepalm emoji]."

Another has posted that "the new Photos app in iOS 18 is so f****** awful," so it's clear that not many are on board with the changes.

It's not just Photos that has left people frustrated too, as the new emoji keyboard has also been poorly received.

One post on X with 78,000 likes has implored people: "do NOT update to iOS 18.1," claiming that the update, specifically the new emoji screen, is "unusable."

This is perhaps quite different to the typical iOS experience however, as one user points out on the r/iPhone subreddit.

"I remember being so upset that I had an android at the time iOS 7 came out," they claim, showing the massive UI and visual updates that the 2013 launch brought.

One user has pointed out that some did consider iOS 7 to be "underwhelming visually" due to icons that overall looked "too simple," so perhaps we could see a reappreciation for iOS 18 in the coming years, or at least until the next 'worst' update rolls around.
