Yesterday (September 16) saw the launch of iOS 18 for iPhones but one new feature has left people divided.

iOS 18 was announced at Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference back in June and is full of cool new features including home screen and control center customization, a new Passwords app and smart handwriting for Notes.

There is also an upgrade to Maps, Apple Fitness+ and the Calculator, alongside a refreshed version of Safari.

Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, said: "We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18.

"It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customization and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages. There are so many benefits for everyone."

But, one feature of the update has got people talking for the wrong reason, with some branding it a feature for 'cheaters and scandalous people.'

That's because users will now be able to hide apps from prying eyes.

The Apple website explains: "iOS 18 gives users even more control with tools to manage who can see their apps, how contacts are shared, and how their iPhone connects to accessories.

"Locked and hidden apps offer users peace of mind that information they want to keep private, such as app notifications and content, will not inadvertently be seen by others.

"Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder.

"When an app is locked or hidden, content like messages or emails inside the app are hidden from search, notifications, and other places across the system."

While the update is great for keeping personal data like banking apps completely private, people have pointed out that it could promote some pretty shady behavior.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), one user said: "Best new feature of iOS 18 for cheaters and scandalous people. You can hide apps from showing on your iPhone."

A second person wrote: "This new iOS 18 update was made for cheaters by cheaters only. Now you can lock and hide apps. Ladies just focus on yourself and let that man cheat in peace. You don’t need that stress."

And a third commented: “This new iOS 18 update is messy as hell. They have a feature to 'lock an app' so if someone gets in your phone they can’t get to any of social media.

"Some IT developer at Apple got caught cheating and said 'Nah, let me fix this.'"
