There are a series of new features could be coming soon in Apple’s new operating system update.

The highly anticipated iOS 18.5 is expected to be released in mid-May after Apple unveiled its new Pride Band yesterday (May 5).

In a press release, the tech giant said: “Ahead of Pride Month, Apple is introducing a new Apple Watch Pride Edition Sport Band, watch face, and iPhone and iPad wallpaper to celebrate the strength and beauty of LGBTQ+ communities around the world.

“The Pride Edition Sport Band is available to order today, and the matching, dynamic watch face and wallpaper will be available in an upcoming software update.”

In the release it also shared that there would be a new Pride Harmony watch face and iPhone and iPad wallpaper to ‘offer a complementary design’.

The wallpaper consists of colorful stripes that move as the user either moves, locks or unlocks their device.

Apple revealed that this feature would be available ‘in an upcoming software update with watchOS 11.5, iOS 18.5, and iPadOS 18.5’.

After a month of beta versions of iOS 18.5, it looks like the upgrade could soon be available to the public.

So, what new features can we expect?

New updates to the Mail app

The Mail app will be getting a slight revamp with iOS 18.5. Now, you’ll be able to easily switch off contact photos without having to leave the app to do so.

Previously, you would have had to go hunting for it in the Settings app.

Instead, all you have to do is click on the circle with three dots in the top right-hand corner and follow the options through there.

Changes to the Settings app

There is not a huge amount of change happening with iOS 18.5 but there are some minor tweaks that will help to make your user experience smoother.

One new addition with the update is happening in the Settings app as AppleCare+ coverage information will be much more prominent than ever before.

Newly announced 2025 Pride Collection

In the run-up to Pride Month in June, Apple has recently announced its collection for this year, including the new Apple Watch band, watch face, and wallpaper for the iPhone and iPad.

The tech company has shared that the wallpaper will only be available to use once iOS 18.5 has been released, which means we’re likely to have it on our devices soon.
