Expert on what to expect from Apple's 'Glowtime' event next week amid iOS 18 launch

The tech expert shared his insight on things we can expect from the Apple announcement

An expert has revealed what we can expect from Apple’s “Glowtime” event next week amid the iOS 18 launch.

Fernando Silva explained everything we need to know ahead of next week’s Apple announcements.

The tech expert uploaded a video on his YouTube channel, @9to5Mac, where he shared his insight on what the firm has in store for fans.

This has come after Apple sent out official invites for their “Glowtime” event on September 9 where it’s expected that the iPhone 16 will be announced along with revelations about Apple Intelligence.

Explaining everything, Silva said in the video: “Of course, we're going to get the new iPhone 16 lineup.”

He went on to say that the phone will have Apple Intelligence support as well as “a capture button for controlling the camera app”.

The phone will also be equipped with a 5x telephoto lens, something that according to Silva, only previously applied to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

He added: “Just be fair warned of two things first and foremost, the new iPhones will be equipped with iOS 18.0 which will not have Apple Intelligence at all regard, regardless of which iPhone you actually get.

“So, do keep that in mind that 18.1 will be the first time that we see Apple Intelligence on these iPhones and that probably won't come out until the late October time.”

Silva also shared some bad news for users with an older iPhone, saying: “Unfortunately if you are rocking a 15 plus, a 15 or older iPhone, you will not be getting any of the new Apple Intelligence features.

“Apple is saying it's because of the chipset and the amount of RAM that's needed and the

actual particulars when it comes to running that type of operating system in that type of software and functionality.”

Another announcement that is expected to be made next week include the new Apple Watch Series 10.

Silva speculated that these might be coming in two new sizes.

Apple fans took to the YouTube comment section to share their own thoughts about the upcoming event.

One user wrote: “HOLD ON!!! Let me get this right, the iPhone 15 pro max I just purchased THIS year is useless come October because a phone I purchased still within the same year won’t get Apple Intelligence, have I understood this video correctly? And if so I hope the EU steps right into this.”

Silva replied with: “No. If you have 15 or 15 plus you will get OLD Siri. The 15 pro and pro max WILL get the NEW Siri but not until October.”

And another person added: “I don't plan on upgrading my iPhone 14 or my Series 9 watch but I'm still going to watch the event to see what's new.”
