Android users all point out same 'flaw' as iPhone fans get first look at new iOS 18 photo update

People are arguing that the latest iOS 18 feature is nothing new

Android users have all pointed out the same 'flaw' in a new iPhone feature after fans got a first look at an iOS 18 photo update.

There’s a buzz around next week’s Apple announcement with the upcoming event set to reveal a host of new features coming with the operating system upgrade.

The tech firm is also expected to unveil the new iPhone 16 and has been teasing new features that Apple fans will soon be able to put to use.

However, there is one particular new addition that has given Android users something to say.

The new function for Apple is called the “Clean Up” feature which is an Apple Intelligence tool that removes any unwanted people or objects from photos on iOS 18.1 Beta.

Users that have been trialing the beta version of the operating system have been able to have a go at cleaning up their pics using the tool.

However, the unveiling of the new feature has caused a bit of a stir on social media, with some people arguing that it’s nothing new and it’s something that users have been able to do on Android for years.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one person simply wrote: “Android did it first …..catch up @Apple”, while another said: “But this has introduced to android earlier.”

A third user claimed: “My Samsung has been able to do this for at least a year now.” And another added: “Google photos had this for ages.”

Some were still excited that the tool will now be available for Apple fans, with one person saying: “Finally! I can stop asking people with android phones to erase people out of my photos. Thank you Apple’s ‘Clean Up’ feature.”

And another Apple fan said: “It’s an old android feature. But when Apple does it, it will have lot of perfection.”

A tech expert has shed some insight on what we can expect from the Apple event on September 9, which the company have called “Glowtime”.

The expert, Fernando Silva, shared that the iPhone 16 will be unveiled and went on to say that the phone will have Apple Intelligence support, as well as “a capture button for controlling the camera app”.

The phone will also be equipped with a 5x telephoto lens, something that only previously applied to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, he warned: “The new iPhones will be equipped with iOS 18.0 which will not have Apple Intelligence at all, regardless of which iPhone you actually get.

“So, do keep that in mind that 18.1 will be the first time that we see Apple Intelligence on these iPhones and that probably won't come out until the late October time.”
