Apple’s brand new iOS 19 is set to bring a game changing feature to AirPods.

It looks like the iPhone is not the only device that is an getting upgrade this year as iOS 19 is due to bring in a lot of new functions.

The last operating system update from the tech giant, iOS 18, was rolled out last year and saw the introduction of Apple Intelligence to Apple products.

Although, fans of the firm haven’t been best pleased by the recent news that the introduction of a smarter Siri has been delayed and users could be waiting another year for it.

But the next update will bring in a wave of new features, including one particularly exciting new function for AirPods.

Apple has plans to bring in a live translation support to the headphone devices.

And there’s no need to buy new models as this should work with your existing AirPods.

This is another AI feature that the tech firm has been working on but it isn’t the first company to do so.

Other phone companies like Samsung and Honor have already been rolling out their own translation features to devices, which include functions that enable the user to translate phone call conversations in real time.

Honor displayed its AI translation capabilities at this year’s MWC Barcelona, which will allow its users to receive real-time translation whether that is through text or speech.

Incredibly, this also works when having a face-to-face conversation with someone speaking another language, with the feature able to translate the speech back to each person.

According to Honor, the AI system is capable of β€˜understanding context, grammar and even cultural nuances over time’, which could make it a game changer for smartphone translation.

It’s not yet known how Apple’s version of the feature will work but writing for Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said: β€œThe capability will work like this: If an English speaker is hearing someone talk in Spanish, the iPhone will translate the speech and relay it to the user’s AirPods in English. The English speaker’s words, meanwhile, will be translated into Spanish and played back by the iPhone.”

Either way, it seems like the AI race is in full swing for tech giants as they are working quickly to roll out the latest and most innovative features that artificial intelligence has to offer.

This comes after Trump announced a major plan involving artificial intelligence that is worth up to $500 billion.
