Tesla owner spent $400 having key implanted into his hand so 'he’ll never forget it'

He took matters into his own hands... literally.

A Tesla owner in Detroit implanted his car key into his hand so he never forgets it again.

Brandon Dalaly, a Tesla owner in Detroit, said he's tired of constantly misplacing his key card.

So he decided to solve the problem once and for all.

For $400, Dalaly had a chip from his Tesla key card surgically implanted into his right hand.

He posted a video announcement on X (formerly Twitter) proudly demonstrating how his new hand-embedded key effortlessly unlocks his Tesla.

He captioned it: "Finally decided to take my phone key issues in to my own hands... literally. Tesla key chip implant."

You can check it out here but it is pretty... yucky to watch.

Of course with his story going viral, people on social media had questions.

Like what happens if Dalaly decides to ditch his Tesla for another car?

Turns out the Tesla owner has apparently thought of everything, replying: "His implanted chip isn’t locked to one vehicle and can be reprogrammed if he buys a new Tesla".

He also revealed that the chip has multiple functions, explaining: "Also the chip does more than just work with Teslas it's just one function I'm using it for."

His actions still beg more questions, though luckily Dalaly's been pretty responsive on X so we have answers.

One curious user asked what it feels like to have a chip inside your hand to which Dalaly reassured: "I only feel it if I go looking for it. If I clench my first and run my finger across the area then yeah you can feel it underneath the skin.

"It's very subtle and you could never even notice it unless you were actively trying to find it."

Some people called the whole idea 'silly', pointing out that it 'can't do more than opening a door'.

But Dalaly had an answer for that too: "You can install apps on it wirelessly for other functions. It can be a secure crypto wallet, otp authentication, in the future credit card transactions, and whatever other software people can write for it."

Surprisingly, despite tagging Elon Musk in his post, Dalaly has received no comment from Tesla’s CEO.

This is unusual, given that Musk often replies to Tesla-related posts on X - and not just celebrities.

A few have included one who designed a fully wooden Cybertruck and another who gave his Cybertruck a Halo-inspired Warthog makeover.

Most are almost always very short and cryptic but no comment at all is a little out of character.

Other users have been weighing in their thoughts in the comments section and frankly, many are grossed out.

"I don’t even want my ears pierced!" one person commented.

"I guess a bracelet would not have good enough. #cyborg" another joked.
