Tesla might just have announced a new visual overhaul that many didn't expect, and it has had a somewhat polarizing reception from social media with some claiming it looks 'dystopian'.

Regardless of what you think of him, you certainly can't deny that Elon Musk is interested in futuristic aesthetics and technology when it comes to his businesses, which is why he's put so much stock into achieving automatous driving and reaching Mars for the very first time.

Tesla in particular appears fascinated with the idea of 'looking' futuristic, especially following the angular stainless-steel exoskeleton of the Cybertruck, although some garish alternate designs aren't quite as sleek as the original.

The electric vehicle company's new redesign has definitely turned heads though, and while not everyone is on board, it could be where the future lies for Tesla and its full range of products.

What is the new Tesla redesign?

Gold appears to be the focus of Tesla's new visual overhaul, as a new post on X from the car company has promised that "the future is golden" for the manufacturer.

Accompanying the post are three screenshots of a Tesla car, Optimus robot, and the yet-to-be-released Robovan which remains still in the concept stage, and all three have a striking gold finish alongside the standard black trim.

It's certainly an image of luxury to be driving around in an autonomous gold electric vehicle, and being waited on by a gold-plated robot in the comfort of your home would be the idea of perfection for some.

Outside of custom mods that have seen people apply a 24 karat gold plating to their existing cars, this is the first time that any Tesla product has officially been gold, and not everyone is as convinced as you might expect.

How have people reacted to the gold Teslas?

Many people are on board with both the idea of Tesla entering a 'golden age' of sorts and the concept designs featured in the post, with one fan in particular singing the company's praises:

"AKA, the future looks awesome," they wrote, adding that "it would look cool if all of these were built in matte black as well."

Another has added that "at Tesla, the future looks like the future. It's going to be awesome!"

This vision of the future hasn't convinced everyone though, with plenty of comments alluding to the almost dystopian quality of these concept images.

"The future looks like movies that were a dystopian future," claims one user, with another writing that "all 3 photos remind me of iRobot. We all remember the outcome right?"

There's even concerns from an economical perspective, and rightfully so as it's almost guaranteed that these won't be cheap to pick up. One user declares that "the golden future looks expensive," pondering that it "will be interesting to see if normal people can afford any of this."
