Tesla accused of 'rushing out' Cybertrucks after claims they're malfunctioning at 'astonishing rate'

Tesla accused of 'rushing out' Cybertrucks after claims they're malfunctioning at 'astonishing rate'

Some owners of the cars are not happy.

Tesla finally brought out the Cybertruck this year, and while the truck has instantly become fairly iconic on US roads, and instantly recognisable, it has also divided people.

As the electric vehicle has gotten into more people's hands over the last few months, more stories have started to emerge of alleged failures and errors.

In one recent thread on a Cybertruck owners' forum, first reported by the New York Post, a new owner described recently how their truck reportedly "died" within just a few minutes of starting it up for the first time.

Cybertrucks have made many headlines since they came out this year.

The poster described how, the same day the truck was delivered they "made it 1 mile down [the] road" before they "started getting steering error, flashing red screen", which is how the Cybertruck lets drivers know that something is seriously wrong and they should stop immediately.

According to the post, they then "pulled off [to the] side of [the] highway" and realised in a flash: "the truck is dead and I’m waiting for a tow truck."

It sounds like this could be a lengthy wait since the poster said their "Dealer couldn’t do anything".

It's not a massive surprise after that experience the poster claimed that in their opinion "Tesla really rushed these trucks out, what a nightmare."

We've reached out to Tesla to see if there is any response to this thread.

The thread of comments and replies under this post is unsurprisingly full of people sympathising with the poster's plight, with one person writing, "That sucks, starting to see a lot of these types of posts now."

The high-profile nature of the Cybertruck means that there are indeed quite a lot of posts, videos and images doing the rounds, not least when people spot them on the road for the first time.

Further down the lengthy thread, though, some people are recounting how their own issues or maintenance problems took weeks to fix, with one person saying that "I know several other cyber truck owners who have been waiting up to 1.5 months for the repair".

So, if you're unlucky enough to have a Cybertruck that dies out of the blue like this, you might not be back on the road particularly soon if you're doubly unfortunate with your waiting time.

Still, for all of the drawbacks there's no denying that the Cybertruck has instantly become incredibly recognisable and is already a bit of a status symbol, with custom paint jobs helping some people to make theirs stand out even further.

And for every negative comment, there are plenty of Cybertruck owners who are very happy customers.
