This handy hack may save you if your car key fob isn't working.

Hidden hacks are always such a revelation, and this one is no different.

It involves the key fob for your car and it's come from the TikTok account of @melvinleedavis, who refers to himself as a former US Military Instructor Pilot in his bio.

He shows you something most people may not know, about what's hidden inside your key fob in case of emergencies if the fob isn't working to open your car.

There's a key nestled inside most car fobs, depending on the car model.

He explains, as he pries open the fob: "You already know about how to get to the hidden key inside your key fob, press the little buttons, remove the tab, boom, got your key hidden inside".

But it doesn't stop there - the little hidden key, while great for opening the car if you need, is not the most comfortable thing to handle.

It's small and digs into your fingers, due to it being bare metal with no cover on it.

But as Davis explains: "What they don't advertise is the awkward little T Handle Shape that's cut in a way that digs into your fingers when you're trying to turn it. Makes it pretty hard to unlock.

"The easy way to turn the key? Take the empty fob and line up the T shape at the end of the handle with the key itself and just give it a light turn, works every time".

So your fob actually doubles up as a handle too if needed.

The original video, posted in 2021, clocked up over 700,000 views. Comments include people being astounded by the revelation with some saying it was something they already knew.

One person commented: "Actually I had no clue until I watched this video thank you".

Others were less enthused, with someone saying: "It's like it was designed to go that way".

Another commented: "Its not hidden. Does no one read manuals anymore".

It's not certain all car model fobs will have this hidden feature, so it's always worth checking your car manual to find out.
