Ozzy Osbourne was much more than just the vocalist and co-founder of Black Sabbath, and while his musical legacy is what put him on the map, the Blizzard of Ozz is also remembered as a father, generous charity advocate, and (for some) being part of one of the best reality TV stars of all time.
Long before the Kardashians were taking over the airwaves, and even before the recently departed Hulk Hogan was leading Hogan Knows Best, The Osbournes was addictive television at its best.
Around the era when we were obsessed with MTV Cribs, the network came up with the brilliant brainwave of putting Ozzy, Sharon, Jack, and Kellie (Aimee refused to partake) Osbourne under the spotlight for their own series. Charting their madcap adventures over four seasons and 52 episodes, The Osbournes was cited as MTV's most-watched series, won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program, and is sure to have a resurgence in the aftermath of Ozzy's tragic passing.

Despite The Osbournes' popularity, Ozzy admitted in a 2013 interview with NME that he regretted doing the show because it took him away from music. He launched into a typically swear-riddled rant and raged: "Of course I regret doing the f**king show (The Osbournes). I didn’t want to be on f**king television."
Ozzy appears to have mellowed over the years, and perhaps it's to do with him publicly disclosing he had Parkinson's disease in 2020 (although diagnosed in 2003), but in 2022, it was announced that the family would be reuniting for another reality series.
Although not officially a sequel to The Osbournes, Home to Roost would've taken on a similar format as it followed the family in 10 30-minute episodes. Ozzy had already returned to reality TV long before this, thanks to the likes of the short-lived The Osbournes: Reloaded, The Osbournes Want to Believe, and Ozzy & Jack's World Detour, but this was expected to be much closer to the original format that put the family on the map.
According to Deadline, the unaired Home to Roost could finally be shown to the public in honor of Ozzy's legacy. The outlet explains how producer Expectation filmed with the family for several months, following Kelly and Jack helping Sharon and Ozzy as they moved back to the United Kingdom.

After Home to Roost was originally supposed to air on the BBC and iPlayer in 2023 but vanished from schedules, the network is now said to be 'locked in conversations' about releasing the show.
Things might have to be shifted around, and while sources told Deadline that Home to Roost is unlikely to air in its original format of 10 episodes, it could instead be a mini-movie following the family settling back into what would become Ozzy's final home.
It's noted that "those involved are mindful of respecting the family’s wishes following Ozzy’s death at the age of 76," but for those who loved The Osbournes or just Ozzy himself, Home to Roost could be a poignant way to send him off in style.
