GoPro cameras are renowned for their durability, and one YouTuber put that to the test by dropping one down a 300 ft well in Texas, leaving viewers feeling uneasy at what's found at the bottom.

The inside of a well is one of those things that, for most people, it's probably best that you don't know what's down there - even if it ends up being completely harmless.

Anyone who has seen The Ring won't need to think very hard about the hypothetical horrors that could be lying in the water deep below, but the reality is thankfully not quite as terrifying as a vengeful ghost.

Other creators have used their GoPro gadgets to venture underneath a cruise ship to the horror of any thalassophobia sufferers, and venturing hundreds of feet into the depths of a well will add a pinch of claustrophobia into the mix.

What did the GoPro find at the bottom of the well?

The video, shared by Andy Wende on YouTube, uses a GoPro 9 Black to see what's down a water well in Texas, although it's more like a pipe than a traditional stone well that you might be picturing in your head.

It shows the camera dropping down a long and seemingly never ending yellow-stained tube that was clearly white when it was installed, yet now stands laden wit marks and cracks.

When Andy manages to get a streamlined fall the speed at which the camera drops can almost give you a feeling of vertigo, although it does come to an abrupt stop at points thanks to some obstacles.

Only a stray leaf about halfway through the journey shows any sign of life, and things become a bit more gnarly as the pipe transitions into a hole in the actual stone itself.

At the 'bottom', however, is a dirty and pitch black pool of groundwater that the well is extracting from, and while there is 'nothing' explicitly here, it's definitely more than enough to make you feel as if something horrifying could come crawling out of the darkness.

Overall it took around five minutes for the camera to reach the bottom of the well, and then the same amount of time for Andy to pull it back out, showing quite how far down it had to travel to find the water down below.

"Crazy that there's just groundwater and MASSIVE underground caves under us everywhere at all times," writes one commenter in shock at what they saw in the video, whereas another adds that "this is one of the trippiest videos I've randomly come across."

Plenty of people offered up their comedic interpretations of the video too, with one declaring that this is "where the last Pringle is," and another writing: "Thanks for reminding me to schedule my colonoscopy."

Some others have pointed out that this particular well could do with some repairs as the casing of the pipe is broken around three quarters of the way down, and that wouldn't have been spotted if this GoPro trip hadn't occurred.
