Millions of people across the world enjoy a nice hot coffee to start their day, but you could be putting yourself at risk as one horrifying animated video shows how the popular drink can cause your teeth to crack.
So many otherwise normal daily activities can have risks that you have to consider, yet one habit you might not have considered to be dangerous is the act of drinking coffee.
It's almost considered abnormal at this point if you don't enjoy a hot drink to start off your day, and many people rely on a caffeinated fix from coffee to adequately preparing them for working life, especially when dealing with coworkers or clients.
The health of your teeth could perhaps be at risk if you like drinking your coffee when it's on the warmer side though, as one horrifying simulation shows that in action, leaving many feeling the pain.

Leave it to simulation king Zack D Films on YouTube to show something that many would only reserve for their nightmares, but it's certainly something that many people have wondered at one point and could prevent you from a major issue down the line.
The video first examines whether your teeth would crack if you bit into a block of ice – freezing them in the process – and then drank hot coffee, but the answer isn't exactly simple.
Thankfully your teeth are built to withstand extreme changes in temperature, and that's why you're able to consume drinks on either side of the temperature scale without too many issues.
Of course, if you exposed your teeth to freezing temperatures and then boiling hot ones you would likely run into some discomfort, but the video explains that it would take an extreme level of heat well beyond that of coffee to break your teeth apart.
"For it to crack, the cold teeth would have to rapidly be heated up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit," the video explains, and coffee is usually just over a quarter of that at its hottest.

However, if your teeth already had small cracks or chips present then you're really running into an issue, and something as simple and common as drinking coffee could aggravate these, causing your teeth to split and shatter due to the heat.
"I could feel the pain from my screen," writes one horrified commenter, with another adding that they're "definitely not taking a blowtorch to my teeth anytime soon."
