GameStop is known for its wild social media tactics, but many have still been left stunned by the company's most recent post on X as it reveals how a customer tried to 'trade in' his girlfriend for store credit.
It has become a meme in the gaming community quite how lackluster the trade in value at GameStop can be, as you'll often be given a fraction of the item's actual cost, even when it has only just released.
One YouTuber did manage to recently find an absurd loophole that he branded an 'infinite money glitch', but the retailer was quick to shut it down before the masses were able to take advantage of it.
With games and consoles becoming more expensive by the year, and the prospect of GTA 6 around the corner with a potentially record-breaking price, one GameStop customer has seemingly turned to unconventional methods in an attempt to save some money.

According to GameStop's X account, a store assistant was greeted by an unexpected opportunity as one customer attempted to 'trade in' his girlfriend.
"We regret to inform our customers of an incident today where an individual attempted to trade his girlfriend in for store credit towards a new PS5," the shocking post details.
"Store associate Nevaeh had to explain that our systems don't allow for human exchanges, even though she appeared to be in good condition. While GameStop offers store credit for used consoles, games, and accessories, significant others are not eligible for trade-in at this time."
Accompanying the post is an image of the altercation, with a concerned look on the store associate's face as she's greeted with the bizarre proposition.
It might not surprise you to discover, however, that this is indeed all a joke — and those in the know might also have spotted that the image and post includes Facebook famous Celina 52 employee and 'Piss Jug Queen' herself Nevaeh Petty.
If you're unaware, the Celina 52 Truck Stop is a viral yet satirical creation on both Facebook and Instagram, and while it's based on a real place with real people making up most of the content, much of it has been enhanced through clever tricks and the use of AI.
Nevaeh shared GameStop's post on her own Facebook page, where she 'revealed' how she had to "pick up a side job at GameStop to help pay some bills," assuring her followers that she's 'still loyal' to Celina 52.
The Truck Stop did respond to GameStop's post, demanding: "Please return our employee @NevaehPettyy to her rightful employer. We do not allow our staff to work other jobs. Unfortunately we will now have to up her to 60 hours a week to prevent her from seeking better opportunities."
It's a whole rabbit hole that you can easily find yourself lost within, but many of the comments underneath her post are both enjoying the chaos and very much along for the ride.
"The fact that GameStop really posted this is HILARIOUS," wrote one amused user, whereas another jokingly asked if there is "a deal in trading in piss jugs?"
Others remarked that they weren't expecting to see a collab between the massive retailer and Celina 52, and one even remarked that "this must be AI, GameStop customers don't have girlfriends."
