Influencers could undergo a serious transformation in the next quarter of a century, as by 2050 we could see a 'horrifying' new breed of social media stars take over thanks to predictions from a new scientific study.
While the idea of social media alone, let alone influencers, was a foreign concept 25 years ago, it has become a dominant feature of modern society to the point where many of the most famous celebrities are often broadly falling into the same category.
To be an influencer these days isn't just having an online presence, as it requires you to provide a service that often takes the form of ads and endorsements to the tune of thousands, if not millions of dollars every single year.
Even relatively small influencers have shown how much their earnings can stretch to based on a few hit videos, yet the trends that currently dominate social media could lead to a visual transformation that many wouldn't expect.

As reported by the Daily Mail, a new scientific study has proposed what influencers could look like by 2050, with a model creator known as 'Ava' representing what's seemingly on the horizon.
As you can see she has a noticeably hunched back from the time spent craning over a phone or laptop, patchy skin and prominent dark circles due to overexposure to LEDs, and a pointed 'witch chin' thanks to repeated facial filler.
She's also blessed with significant hair loss and bald spots as a consequence of years of extensions, alongside generally thinner hair.

The experts behind this worrying prediction have revealed that "while Ava is the face of tomorrow's social media star, she is always today's warning. She's what years of algorithm-chasing, beauty standard obsession, and constant content creation can do to a person.
"From endless brand trips to Las Vegas to the daily grind of filters and photo shoots, her lifestyle has left its mark. Backed by medical research, Ava's appearance is the sum of influencers' habits."

The effects won't just be seen physically either, as the influencers of the future will also suffer severe chronic fatigue, as lengthy and irregular working hours will take its toll on the body.
As per the BBC, many influencers can work upwards of 90 hours every single week, with many of those coming late into the night at the expense of sleep, and this will without a doubt have an effect in the future.
"Over time, this can lead to chronic fatigue, thinning hair from distributed melatonin production, and swollen lower eyelids," the experts added.
