Youtuber Jake Paul wins Netflix boxing match against Mike Tyson in shocking victory

Jake Paul walked away victorious

Jake Paul has defeated Mike Tyson after the pair faced off in an eight-round boxing match in Texas.

It all came down to unanimous decision, and all three judges scored the fight for Paul, 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

Tyson, who faced some health issues prior to the fight, started strong - but as time went on, Paul quickly began to dominate the boxing veteran.

The 27-year-old landed 78 punches from 278 thrown (28 percent), while Tyson landed just 18 punches from 97 thrown, according to Netflix.

The highly anticipated fight took place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and was live streamed around the world on Netflix for those tuning in from home.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion and YouTuber finally got to the ring after the fight was originally set to take place in July, but was rescheduled due to Tyson’s health issues.

Eager to see it all go down, with millions watching the boxing match live on Netflix.

However, many viewers complained of streaming issues throughout, receiving some error messages as the stream has not started for them yet.

Prior to the pair sparing off, there were some controversial rule changes laid down by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Both participants had to wear 14-ounce gloves instead of the standard 10-ounce gloves worn in a heavyweight fight - It's said that the heavier the glove is, the more padding and shock absorption they have.

Alongside this, the match was also eight rounds instead of the usual 12, and they were also reduced to just two minutes over the typical three-minute rounds you'd expect in a professional fight.

There will be three judges standing ringside and scoring in case there isn't a knockout, while headguards are also banned.

It’s safe to say that fans were divided by these changes - Whilst many began to question the validity of the match, others remained concerned for Tyson.

After all, it had been 19 years since he 'retired' in 2005.

In the run up, Tyson also faced some serious health problems, which he spoke about in their Netflix documentary.

The boxer revealed that he was ‘throwing up blood’ and feared he was 'going to die’.

‘They found I had a big ulcer, two-and-a-half inches, and it was bleeding. All my friends were calling me like I was dying.”
