Elon Musk is slammed live on TV after DOGE impacts coverage

One weatherman has taken a stand against the current Trump administration, outlining the dangers that DOGE-led cuts have caused on the ability to produce accurate forecasts in a chilling warning for the future.
The formerly Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been one of the most prominent parts of Donald Trump's second term as US president, with its goal to cut as much as possible from the federal budget.
While the initial goal of $2 trillion is far from achievable at this point, DOGE has caused serious damage for many key government departments, including Health, Housing, Education, and many more.

The department has also been criticized for it's 'accidental' removal of key employees from the Department of Energy, and judges have ruled USAID-based cuts to be 'unconstitutional'.
Many of DOGE's cuts have already been passed through though, and one unexpected consequence is the damaging effect it has had on the ability to forecast the weather across America.
As reported by the Independent, NBC Miami weatherman and meteorologist John Morales has seemingly reached breaking point with the cuts, dedicating part of a recent segment to the damage that DOGE has done.

The segment begins with him recalling a clip from around six years ago where he confidently reassures viewers that a hurricane won't be hitting Florida residents despite it moving ever closer to the coast.
"Remember that? That was about six years ago, that was Hurricane Dorian as it was absolutely devastating the northwest Bahamas as a category 5 sat over that region for two days," Morales explains. "It was heading straight west. Lots of people in Florida were concerned the hurricane was heading here.
"And as you've grown accustomed to my presentations over my 34 years in South Florida newscasts, confidently I went on TV and told you, it's going to turn. You don't need to worry. It is going to turn. And I am here to tell you that I am not sure I can do that this year."
Morales outlines that the "cuts, the gutting, the sledgehammer attack on science" by DOGE has significantly hampered the ability for scientists and meteorologists like John to provide accurate - and potentially life-saving - informations to audiences across the United States.

In South Florida alone weather services are experiencing understaffing between 19 and 39 percent, and there has been a 17% reduction in weather balloon launches nationwide, which combine to degrade forecast accuracy.
"There's also a chance because of some of these cuts that NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft will not be able to fly this year, and with less reconnaissance missions, we may be flying blind and we may not exactly know how strong a hurricane is before it reaches the coastline," Morales worryingly illustrates.
Consequently, he urges anyone watching his warning to contact their government representatives to make sure that the cuts are stopped and funding is resumed, as we could have a dangerous future ahead of us otherwise.
That's far from the only criticism that the Trump administration and DOGE have received from the science community at large either, as over 1,900 scientists signed an 'SOS' letter earlier this year, detailing the urgent and long-term dangers that face the world as a consequence of the government's devastating cuts.
