President Donald Trump broke the record for the longest speech during his State of the Union address, but that isn’t the only thing that has had people talking.

The address took place at the White House yesterday (February 24) where Trump boasted about leading a ‘golden age’ in the US amongst touching on other topics including Iran and the Olympics.

Among his comments, Trump made some remarks towards a possible ‘third term’ in office, which some social media users have found to be ‘scary’.

Midway through his speech, the president said: “So in my first year of the second term - should be my third term - but strange things happen.”

The comment seemed to be in reference to Trump losing the election against President Joe Biden in 2020.

This is one of numerous times Trump has remarked on the possibility of a third term, something that is not currently possible for presidents under the Constitution.

Many people took to the internet to share their own reactions to the moment, with one user writing on X, formerly Twitter: “That’s scary.”

Another said: “Even as a joke, it’s an odd thing to keep repeating. The optics don’t get less awkward.”

A third person commented: “He wants you to get used to the term.”

And a fourth added: “He's trying to normalize this idea for 2028. Repeat the lie enough.”

The US men’s hockey team were in attendance during the address following their gold medal victory against Canada.

Trump spoke to the team on the phone after the win, with his comments about the women’s team - who also took home gold medals - stirring controversy.

The team was joined in the locker room by FBI director Kash Patel who could be seen holding a phone with the president speaking to the team on speakerphone.

Trump could be heard inviting the men to meet him at the White House, telling them that ‘we’ll just have some fun’ and that he has ‘medals’ for them.

The president then went on to add: “And we have to - I must tell you, we’re gonna have to bring the women’s team, you do know that. I do believe that I probably would be impeached [if the women’s team wasn’t invited], okay?”

The remark was met with laughter from the men’s team but has since not gone down well with people online, with some calling for USA Hockey to speak out on the incident.
