A California-based woman has broken the world record for the most technological implants in a female body, with a staggering total of 52 implants.

Among the implants Anastasia Synn, 52, has include the largest magnet ever implanted into a person and also around half of her implants are microchips which give her heightened abilities like being able to open locks and turn on her computer, according to the Guinness World Records website.

The native Canadian first decided to get an implant in her body - a small magnetic chip in the little finger of her left hand - only six years ago, after being known for performing magic for about a decade.

Synn is part of a global community of biohackers, who make alterations to their bodies with the aim of giving themselves additional abilities and making life easier.

She was inspired to get her first implant by her then-16-year-old daughter who saw a gamer girl online who could unlock her computer with a microchip, and before long Synn “went down the rabbit hole” of biohacking, she told MailOnline.

Although she said she didn’t begin getting technological implants with the aim of becoming the world’s most implanted person, she told the publication that she had 11 put in at once during her last procedure with the aim of securing the world record.

She’s not protective over her achievement though, saying: “'Honestly, I look forward to meeting the person who breaks my record – it's there to be taken.”

She has used her implants to perform magic tricks and has appeared on the TV magic competition Penn & Teller: Fool Us, with her performance being named by BioHacking News as one of the top biohacking moments of 2018.

One of her most treasured NFC-scannable microchips is one that initiates a call to her late husband’s phone, magician The Amazing Johnathan, with whom she often performed.

Comedian and magician, John Edward Szeles, who was also known as The Amazing Johnathan, died in February last year and Synn also has part of his ashes in a heart-shaped locket implanted in her arm.

In addition, an NFC chip in her hand tells Johnathan's favourite joke when scanned.

The biohacker explained that her red line was getting a battery implant due to the fear of it exploding or catching fire.

She also can't get an MRI and also has to remove and check some of the implants from time to time, the Guinness World Records website says.

She told them: "If I find that I have some kind of illness that requires regular MRIs, I would definitely have all of my implants pulled out."

Synn is known for her cyborg rights activism and she spoke before the Nevada State Senate to oppose a 2019 proposal for a microchip implant ban.

The Las Vegas review-Journal reports that she told the Senate Judiciary committee: "It’s not as sinister as you’re making it out to seem."
