Google and Meta have reportedly just closed on a significant deal worth over $10,000,000,000, as Mark Zuckerberg's company requires one key service from the tech giant to aid its continued AI push.

Meta certainly aren't shy about splashing the cash, as historic purchases of Instagram, WhatsApp, and virtual reality company Oculus have been supported by recent heavy investment in artificial intelligence.

While not every one of Mark Zuckerberg's risks have paid off, as his multi-billion-dollar plunge into the metaverse continues to age like milk the further distance is gained from the short-lived tech trend.

That still hasn't deterred both Zuckerberg and Meta from continuing to invest where they believe the future lies, as the company has now lined up a significant deal with rival Google that's reportedly worth over $10 billion, as per Reuters.

The deal itself amounts to a six-year cloud computing deal that would see Meta gain access to Google Cloud's servers, storage, networking, and other services.

It's similar to a recent agreement that Google and OpenAI reached, and a sign that Zuckerberg is looking to continue to cement his company as a major player in the world of artificial intelligence.

Meta has already invested billions of dollars into AI, primarily focusing on building power-hungry data centers across the country to support the growing demands of its software but also attempting to poach key staff from rivals like OpenAI.

These include plans for a 'mammoth' data center that would end up being bigger than Manhattan, and OpenAI's plans to use Google Cloud's services to meet demand suggest that Meta will likely be doing the exact same.

Despite also investing heavily into its own AI models and services, Google remains keen to expand its cloud network, especially after breaking records with a $31 billion deal to buy cloud security startup Wiz earlier this year following an antitrust lawsuit.

This deal means that Google's Gemini, OpenAI's ChatGPT, Meta's Llama, and Anthropic's Claude will all use Google Cloud's services giving the tech giant an incredible amount of influence over the industry — although it's not like it could 'pull the plug' in favor of its own models.

Some have been left concerned that Google won't have enough Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) left for its own AI developments though, with one user on Reddit stating that they're "still waiting for that Gemini 3.0."

Another added that "Google is really cleaning up on the big AI deals. Not terribly surprising. They just have had far better vision than everyone else."
