Man shares shocking email he received from HR after attending work Christmas party

The ultimate beer fear

'Tis the season...to be working on your Curriculum Vitae. Well, that's if you're one unfortunate worker who's seemingly been called out over his conduct at the office Christmas party.

Even though the way we work has largely changed in a post-pandemic world, many have slowly been brought back to the humdrum of the 9-5 and find themselves once again shackled to a desk in the bullpen.

While that means we have to deal with people's body odor on the morning commute and making idle chatter about "How was your weekend?" when you frankly don't care, at least we get to round off the year with a bang.

Unlike the Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston-led Office Christmas Party, most are normal affairs where you talk to the same four people you normally would, slag off the CEO, and sip lukewarm mulled wine from a paper cup. Unfortunately for TikTok creator Paddy Jobsman (great name), his experience at the annual knees-up was a bit different.

Posting to his 224.2K followers, Paddy shared an email supposedly from the HR department. It seems he got a little merry on the sherry, with it opening: "I am contacting you from the HR department regarding reports of your behaviour at our recent Christmas party.”

Overlaid with footage of Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes crying his eyes out in The Walking Dead, the email continues: "These reports are concerning and require an immediate discussion. Please attend a mandatory meeting on Monday at 9am in the office.

"This meeting is to address the behaviour in question and its implication under our company policy. It is crucial that you attend this meeting. Failure to not comply may result in further action."

People quickly flooded the comments to ask what on Earth Jobsman could've done, although others are a little more skeptical.

Could the whole thing be a hoax for TikTok likes? For starters, the HR woman signing off the email is called 'Karen Jones', which sounds about as made-up as they come.

Advising against drinking with your colleagues in general, one person said: "I would never drink with coworkers, then they might see too much! Don't do it, your coworkers aren't your friends."

Another added: "My company decided not to fund the parties anymore. No party no problem."

A third foreshadowed: "Xmas or any work party is not with friends. It’s with management and it is their priority to find things they don’t like and fire individuals."

Whether this is all a big joke at our expense, or Paddy Jobsman is a real person in real trouble with HR, the viral nature of the posts proves that you should all take one last think before you neck back that tequila shot with the office snitch.
