China has released what claims to be the ‘world’s fastest’ humanoid robot and it has left a lot of people worried about where the technology could be heading.

This comes as startup company MirrorMe Technology has revealed its new robot known as Bolt.

The humanoid bot has the ability to run very fast, with the firm claiming it can reach speeds of 10 meters a second.

If accurate, this could mean that it is the fastest humanoid robot of its kind, according to the startup which was founded in Shanghai, China, in 2024.

In an earlier model known as Black Panther II, it was seen in a clip running a 100-meter sprint in just 13.17 seconds.

However, the super fast robot has drawn a mixed reaction from people online, with many taking to social media to share their own thoughts on the matter.

On Reddit, one user wrote: “I can see it now... POLICE!! STOP!! HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK CITIZEN!!”

Another said: “Yeah, great, more control in one persons hand. No need for good human lives, just robot police/army and human slaves.”

A third person commented: “Now you can't outrun the damn things!!!”

And a fourth added: “I have a better idea. Attach it to a circle, and let the circle roll over the ground.”

And a fourth added: “

In other robot news, tech mogul Elon Musk was slammed online for sharing a post that could be ‘promoting’ the extinction of the human race.

The billionaire shared a video on X, formerly Twitter, that depicts the roles that Tesla robots could potentially fill in the future.

In the clip, users can see the bots acting as construction workers, martial art fighters and even paramedics.

In response, one user wrote: “You post about human extinction through low birth rates... but then promote robots taking over every human job and not needing humans at all. One or the other guy.”

This prompted a response from others with another person saying: “This paradox is a mystery to me, also. TBF he does not promote robots taking every human job - that’s ideological banter in support of the innovation. It doesn’t have to be one or the other. Which is also an idea most often expressed by the masses who believe robots are going to replace humans in the workforce.

“That’s just a doomsday, unrealistic view of the technology. But I could see a world, in the foreseeable future, where robots are augmenting humans in many work environments.

“Robots will lower costs and make products, services, energy, water and other necessities more abundant and accessible to more people. The more people that participate in an economy, the bigger it becomes. The economy’s not a fixed pie.”
