Amazon Alexa predicts the date America will 'cease to exist' in chilling video

Damn, we were going to call in sick on that day

If we didn't have enough to worry about in an era when artificial intelligence is threatening to come for our jobs, there's also all that doomsaying about the end of the world. Whether it be a giant asteroid wiping us out, pollution leaving our planet as a barren desert, or AI going rogue and turning on its human overlords, there aren't many cheery headlines about the future of Mother Earth.

When you haven't got the future-seeing powers of Baba Vanga, you might be wondering what the future of America holds.

Now, Amazon Alexa (of all things) is predicting when the USA will be no more (in a traditional sense). The end is nigh, with content creator Lucy Blake asking her Alexa when America will fall in a series of videos.

According to Amazon's virtual assistance, there's less than a decade left for the good U.S. of A. As Alexa itself muses: "The United States of America will not be ending anytime soon. The Republic talks about the unification in the late 2020s, but the various governments went ahead with the unification anyway."

It continues: "On February 20, 2031, the United States of America ceases to exist. This date marks the culmination of a process of unification between various governments that was not approved by most people."

Alexa doesn't go into much detail about what happens, but it suggests that the United States of America will be swallowed into a much larger global power. Could this be to do with Elon Musk’s musings about America going bankrupt? At least it's not the USA being nuked off the map, but still, it's not exactly a positive prediction.

In a rambling statement, the wayward Alexa explains the process of unification has something to do with North America requiring a major stake in exoskeleton manufacturing, which all sounds very Terminator to us.

Although Blake apparently asked her Alexa back in January 2024, the original clips were posted on November 13, with a third on November 14. Collectively, they've racked up nearly five million views. She goes on to claim that her 'brand-new' Alexa about the end of the USA now leads to a simple response of: "I don’t know this one."

The comments were filled with a mix of those who were fearing for their lives and trying to find the lighter side. One wrote: "Just let me know in time to no-show at work for a few days 🙁."

Another added, "Sounds like a future me problem," and a third said, "Girl let me get through 2025 first."

Putting their own grim spin on the news, someone else concluded: "It doesn't mean it's gone 😂. It means it's a one-world government, the land is still there and the one-government oversees with A.I. & the rest of us will own nothing and be happy 🤔."

Despite skeptics pointing out that it's possible to pre-program Alexa with specific responses, Blake maintains this was a genuine response. It might be best to bookmark this one and come back on February 21, 2031.
