JD Vance to take over Charlie Kirk's YouTube show from the White House on Monday

This comes less than a week after political commentator Charlie Kirk was killed on stage

Vice President JD Vance is set to host Charlie Kirk’s YouTube show from the White House today (September 15).

Vance will take over the show as a tribute to his friend Kirk who was shot and killed last week while on stage as part of his ‘American Comeback’ tour.

The political commentator was known for being outspoken on his rightwing viewers, with his appearance at the Utah Valley University (UVU) sparking over 1,000 signatures on a petition calling for the tour to be banned.

However, the event went ahead Kirk was answering a question on gun control to a 3,000-strong crowd when he was shot in the neck.

During the event, he had been asked by an audience member: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last ten years?”

Kirk replied: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”

The shot could be heard immediately after and videos captured the political pundit falling from his seat after being struck in his neck.

It was later confirmed that Kirk had died from his injuries sustained in the gunshot wound.

A manhunt was conducted by the FBI and 33 hours later, 22 year old Tyler Robinson was arrested under suspicion of murder.

Now, it has been announced that the vice president will be hosting The Charlie Kirk Show at 12pm ET on X, formerly Twitter, and Rumble, less than a week after Kirk’s death.

Vance discovered Kirk had been shot over text, with messsages being shared in a group chat that included Kirk with friends saying that they were praying for him.

After Kirk’s death was announced, Vance said: “God didn’t answer those prayers, and that’s OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I’ll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly.”

According to the governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, Robinson, who is the suspect arrested in the investgation, is not cooperating with authorities.

Cox said: “He is not cooperating, but all the people around him were cooperating, and I think that’s very important.”

Following Kirk’s death, President Donald Trump released a statement saying: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
