A senator who gave an incredible 25 hour long speech has released some disturbing data that his Oura ring of his health gathered during the address.

Cory Booker is a senior Democratic senator from New Jersey who, last week, spent over 25 hours delivering the longest speech in the chamber’s history.

In a protest against President Donald Trump’s policies that seemed reminiscent of a filibuster, the senator spent over a day discussing a variety of topics from the economy to civil rights.

Booker repeatedly stated that the US is in a ‘moral moment’, urging both citizens and lawmakers of the country to get into ‘good trouble’ in protest, declaring that ‘our country is in crisis’.

In order to stand and speak for so long without a break, Booker admitted that he stopped eating on Friday and stopped drinking the night before his speech.

And it seems that the speech took a toll on Booker’s health, as his office provided an insight into some disturbing data that was recorded on his Oura ring, which is a smart ring used to track sleep and physical activity.

In screenshots provided to Men’s Health from the senator’s Oura app, it showed how Booker’s heart rate spiked as he took to the podium last Monday (March 31) at 7pm.

And his heart rate remained over 100 bpm throughout the 25 hour and five minute long address, not dropping until he finally withdrew from the floor just after 8pm on Tuesday (April 1), that's a disturbingly long time to have your heart rate raised.

During his speech, Booker’s Oura ring also tracked general elevated stress levels throughout.

Explaining to Men’s Health how his body felt after the speech, Booker said: “When I played football, Oregon State had the worst turf in the whole Pac-10.

“It was like they just spray-painted concrete. And the next day, everything ached from running on what was like a parking lot.

“I woke up after getting a little bit of sleep after the 25 hours, and felt that way.”

The senator added that during his recovery after the marathon of a speech, his feet were ‘in really bad shape’.

And it’s no surprise considering the fact that he was not allowed to sit down at all for the 25 hours, as this would signal the end of his speech.

Instead, Booker shared that he moved his feet from side to side after he noticed them going numb around the three hour mark.
