The truth behind a mystery item that was thrown out of a White House window has been revealed as the video goes viral online.

The clip has caused a stir on social media after it appeared to show someone throwing an object, which looks like a black trash bag, out of a window at the White House.

The angle at which the video was filmed indicates that it might have been shot from the roof of the nearby Hotel Washington building.

A report by Yahoo! shared that the sunlight on the White House appears to indicate ‘that it was roughly late morning’, which is when Trump was reportedly playing golf at his Virginia golf club.

When quizzed about the video, President Donald Trump shared that it could have been fabricated.

Yesterday (September 2), the president held a separate press conference where he discussed the difficulties surrounding artificial intelligence.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “One of the problems we have with AI, it’s both good and bad. If something happens, really bad, just blame AI. But also they create things. You know, it works both ways. If something happens, it’s really bad, maybe I’ll have to just blame AI.”

Trump was shown the video by Fox News’ Peter Doocy, to which the president said: “That’s probably AI generated.”

Trump went on to talk about how heavy the windows are, adding: “My wife was complaining about it the other day. She said, ‘I’d love to have a little fresh air come in,’ but you can’t - they’re bulletproof.

“Number one, they’re sealed. And number two, each window weighs about 600 pounds. You have to be pretty strong to open them up.”

However, a spokesperson for the White House confirmed that the clip is in fact real, saying: “It was a contractor who was doing regular maintenance while the President was gone.”

Talking about AI online, Trump said: “I see so many phony things. I saw something, as I was growing up from the time I was a baby till now, I said, ‘Who did that?’ It was AI generated. So it’s a little bit scary to be honest with you.”

The president isn’t a stranger to spreading false information that was generated by AI.

Back in July, Trump reposted a fake video that appeared to show former President Barack Obama getting arrested in the Oval Office.

This comes as officials from the Trump administration continue to accuse Obama of attempting to disrupt Trump’s election campaign back in 2016.
