Xbox users have taken to the internet to all make the same observation following GameStop’s decision to keep the Xbox Game Pass at $19.99.

While it might seem like a sweet deal, many gamers think they have uncovered the real reason why the price isn’t going up anytime soon.

In an advertisement, the gaming store wrote: “Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is still $19.99 with us. You’re welcome. Available in-store and online.”

Many Xbox users have taken to social media to share their own thoughts on the matter as the GameStop price currently stands at $19.99.

On Reddit, one user wrote: “Well, good for them. I guess they have a ton of cards sitting there. Being marked at 19.99 they can't really sell them for more than that. Until they restock…”

Another agreed, saying: “Well, yeah, the cards already exist and need to be sold. Once stock runs out, it’ll go back to the regular price.”

A third person commented: “I assume they have a bunch of leftover stock of these cards and probably an allotment of codes to sell. Once they’re gone they are gone though.”

And a fourth added: “I’m just gonna downgrade to the 15$ plan. I had to skip the New Sonic game too. Games are so expensive now. F***.”

The revelation has left some people wondering whether it might be a smart financial decision in the long run to stock up on these passes before the price goes up.

That way, they can use the Xbox Game Passes in the future for a lower cost.

However, one person has advised against buying too many as the passes could have an expiration date.

They explained: “So if you are going to stock up, you cannot redeem over 36 months of prepaid on your account at once and you need to be careful the cards don't expire before you can redeem them or have the capacity too.”

And another user wrote: “It’s tempting to buy a few months supply but are people seriously buying 3 years worth in one fell swoop? The opportunity cost alone seems like it literally makes worse financial sense.”

This discourse comes after Microsoft announced that the cost of the Game Pass would be increasing to $29.99, which is a substantial price hike that has left many subscribers unhappy.

So, it looks like GameStop might be the place to go, at least for now!
