Amazon urge Xbox users to send in their old consoles this week

If you've got an old Xbox console just lying around and collecting dust then you might want to consider sending it to Amazon, and this could be exactly what you needed to get an amazing upgrade.

While it's great to retain older consoles for nostalgia, preservation, and access to games that haven't quite made the generational jump yet, the reality for most people is that they simply never return to the past.

This means that most old consoles end up sitting in the attic or in a box somewhere, neglected and losing value by the second, yet there's thankfully a clever way you could make use of tech from the previous generation to find yourself some new gadgets.

As shared by GAMINGbible, Amazon's Trade-In Program gives you a great way to recycle your old and unused tech in exchange for vouchers and even discounts in certain circumstances.

This can apply to a wide range of gadgets from old phones to once-loved Kindles, yet one of the best options you can use in this program is games consoles you have since moved on from.

One of Microsoft's best marketing moves in recent years is to allow people to access its popular Game Pass service from a wide variety of sources, with many being outside of the traditional gaming console realm.

This could mean that you've stopping using your old Xbox One, and this could allow you instead to trade it in for a new and upgraded console, or another piece of tech that you'd end up using more.

Using the Trade-In Program right now means that you can get up to $15 for a standard Xbox One depending on the condition of the console, up to $50 for an Xbox One S, and then up to $65 for an Xbox One X.

Opting for the latter would then take a new Xbox Series X 1TB edition down to $530, which is very handy after recent price hikes, or you could switch over to the Sony world and pick up a new PS5 Slim for around $475, which just got rid of one of its worst features following an update.

How to use Amazon's Trade-In Program

Here's everything you need to do to take advantage of Amazon's Trade-In Program if you've got an old Xbox or any other neglected gadgets lying around:

• Head to Amazon's Trade-In Program homepage
• Select the category of your device, with 'Video game items' being the one if you're using an Xbox
• Opt for 'Console' and then 'Microsoft'
• Select the console generation that you're trading in, which in this instance would be 'Xbox One'
• Choose which model of Xbox One you're trading in, and then its storage size

Then all you need to do is answer the questionnaire regarding the condition and status of the console, and it should then give you your final trade-in value, which you can choose to accept.
