When you're younger, some people might dream of becoming astronauts, some might dream of becoming racing car drivers, and some might dream of becoming pop stars. Video game fans might dream of being paid to play their favorite titles, and while all of the above are attainable, the latter is arguably easier than the rest.
Even some of you reading this could already be living your dream life by testing video games for a living, and in case you haven't heard, a not-so-little game called GTA VI is on the way.
While you've sadly missed the boat if you wanted to apply to Rockstar Games to test GTA VI, you can still get paid to play the upcoming automotive adventure...with a catch.
How can you get paid $900 to play GTA VI?

We previously covered how playing GTA VI can supposedly save you $5,000, and although we're not quite convinced by that one, one lucky person will get paid $900 for playing the game. Although not an official partnership or position via Rockstar, Virgin Media confirmed that it'll pay you €100 ($111) per hour to play eight hours of the game.

Reminding us that "getting paid to play video games is supposed to be a fantasy," the media company plans to make their dream come true for one lucky person, piggybacking on what's tipped to be the biggest video game of all time.
With the state of Leonida waiting to be explored, Virgin Media will buy you the game and then task you with playing eight hours over a one-week period, splitting your time however you want.
It's then a case of giving your verdict via an 'honest' review, and tagging Virgin Media Ireland.
GTA VI is releasing on November 19, with Virgin accepting applicants until November 15, so you'd better get thinking about how you can secure your spot.
A Virgin Media spokesperson championed the promotion and added: "GTA 6 is the biggest game launch in years, maybe ever. Gamers all over the world have been counting down since the very first trailer. It’s been more than a decade since the last game, so for a lot of people this is a genuine once-in-a-generation moment. It’s the kind of launch that friends plan their whole week around, and we wanted, and we wanted to be part of that excitement."
As for their dream applicant, they explained: "We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves gaming and will give us their honest verdict. Maybe you’ve played every Grand Theft Auto since the start, or maybe you’re just discovering the series. Either way, if you can’t wait to get stuck into Leonida, we want to hear from you. Have a bit of fun with your application and you could be getting paid to do what you were going to do anyway. Passion beats polish every time.”
What's the catch with being paid to play GTA VI?

While you might be rushing to apply, there are some specific conditions you'll want to take note of. Firstly, the winner needs to have a TikTok or Instagram account that they'll tag Virgin Media Ireland in.
You need to be 18 or over, but that was a given, and there's a seemingly odd one about gameplay.
Wannabe gamers are warned they can't use "any gameplay footage, screenshots, game audio, artwork, logos or other content owned by or associated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive," which might make things a little difficult.
There's also a restriction that only those who live in one specific country can qualify as winners. Delving a little deeper, the fine print explains: "Competition entrants must be over 18 years of age and be residents of the Republic of Ireland in order to qualify as the prize winner."
This wasn't the only issue, with some on Reddit suggesting that the competition will be skewed to someone with a massive social media following.
One disgruntled gamer wrote: "Yeah it's just a paid promotion framed as "you get paid to play GTA 6". They're seeing if they can get anyone popular online to bite for a relatively low fee (for Virgin)."
Another added: "No chance for ordinary joe soaps unfortunately hopefully whoever they do pick is a small streamer who sees some growth from it."
A third was a little more hopeful as they concluded: "I have zero social media presence but if your not in it, you can't win it."
