At the start of this year, Readyverse Studios announced 'The Readyverse' - an interactive virtual world for metaverse games and experiences.

It's set to be huge since the minds behind Readyverse include Futureverse, an AI and metaverse technology company, and Ernest Cline, the author of the sci-fi film Ready Player One.

Readyverse partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to help bring the dystopian-based novel to a virtual, metaverse platform.

To rejog your memory, Ready Player One is set in 2045 where most of humanity uses a virtual reality simulation, called OASIS to escape the real world that's on the brink of collapse.

If that wasn't enough to get gaming fans psyched, the company has announced their first project set to launch in the meta verse - a battle royale experience.

Named 'OPEN', this third-person battle royale pits players against each other in a 'multi-biome, multi-IP, multi-mode experience' - similar to the likes of Fortnite.

In terms of gameplay, Readyverse mentions that OPEN will include 'multi-round collaborative and competitive game modes.'

Players will need to use 'tactical positioning, sly movement, strategic shooting, and driving skills' as well as teaming up with allies to claim their victory.

Readyverse Studios founders premiered the OPEN trailer at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas just a few days ago, calling it the 'first AAA quality metaverse experience interoperable with AAA IP that leverages web3 technology.'

Although the minute-long clip doesn't show much about the story, the experience looks pretty unique and original.

With plans to keep in line with pop culture, OPEN reports that it will add 'nostalgia-infused biomes featuring characters and cultural legends across iconic franchises.'

The team behind OPEN is Walker Labs, developed by industry veterans who previously worked at big-time gaming companies like Epic Games and Microsoft - so it's no wonder that OPEN's launch is expected to be nothing short of huge.

'Joining forces with Walker Labs to create a super-team of seasoned game developers from Epic Games, DICE, Microsoft, PlayStation, Mojang, Remedy, Ubisoft, Lucasfilm, Electronic Arts and more has allowed us to tackle the ambitious genre-defining challenge of building a AAA, MMO open metaverse experience worthy of iconic IP in a way that has never been done before,' said the co-founders of Readyverse Studios.
