Man makes horrifying discovery living inside his gaming controller

Man makes horrifying discovery living inside his gaming controller

His controller gathered more than dust.

We all have junk we haven't touched in ages, some more valuable than others.

But finding out your stuff has turned into a critter's cosy abode? That's not exactly the discovery you're hoping for.

YouTube and Twitch streamer RyanUkAus was vacuuming around his desk when he came across a swarm of ants.

After a good 30 minutes of vacuuming, the ant explosion went from chaos to manageable.'

Ryan curiously opened his retro Dreamcast controller it was housing an entire colony of ants, complete with larvae.

According to the streamer, the ants were identified to be Australian black house ants, with a few winged ones too.

Ryan explained that he bought the controller around five years ago from a 'bundle in Japan' and figured the previous owner might have spilled something sugary on the controller, attracting the ants.

Ryan took the controller outside in an attempt to get the ants to 'move away from the controller to a better spot.'

Putting the controller in a box alongside some leaves, Ryan watched as the bugs began to 'clean up after themselves', moving their eggs away from the controller to the leaves.

Ryan was then able to take the exterior controller parts away for cleaning.

Instead of running out of the room in shock-horror, Ryan managed to take the matter into his own hands and try to get the ants to vacate their gaming home.

Though he admitted the memory card slots of the remote had 'become egg storage', Ryan was able to clean up the shell and buttons, and left the ants to work through the night on the circuit board.

Left with the interior side, Ryan noticed that the circuit board was still 'pretty busy' and the memory card slots had become 'egg storage'.

Leaving it overnight, the ants moved their nest and cleaned everything up, leaving it practically spotless.

After a quick clean with isopropyl, and putting all the parts back together, the controller worked just fine.

Ryan said that let this be a warning to others who spill sugary things on their tech. If you notice ants surrounding it, it might be time to take it outside.

One person commented: 'Imagine playing sonic adventure 2 and a bunch of ants start crawling out of your controller.'

Besides disgust, some viewers are surprised at the consideration of the ants writing: 'Would've never thought to just let them clean their own mess up. Very interesting.'

Others felt they had answers to their childhood questions: '“Why is this game’s controls so buggy?” opens controller “Oh, I see.”'
