Rockstar is planning a suitably large marketing campaign for GTA 6's launch next month, yet the iconic developer does have to abide by specific terms and conditions in order to transform Miami into Vice City, its fictional equivalent.
The gaming world hasn't quite had anything like GTA 6 before, as the overwhelming hype and anticipation behind Rockstar's next release is something that the entire industry is both relying on and has had to cater to for the past few years.
It only makes sense that a game of this scale – which many would argue is the biggest in the medium's history – has a marketing campaign to match that ambition, and recently revealed plans certainly seem to suggest that's the case.
Reports of a pitch deck sent to Rockstar Games by key members of Miami Council indicated plans to turn some of the city's most recognizable landmarks into marketing spots for the game, making them appear as if they were present in Vice City.

While backlash from the police threatened to jeopardize the plans, they have now officially been approved and look set to go ahead — although there are a number of terms and conditions that must be obeyed in order to carry out the large-scale operation.
What are the terms and conditions of the marketing agreement?
Detailed in Ordinance 19783 of the Miami City Commission, the authorization of 'temporary banners' has now been approved with the sponsorship of Miami District Two Commissioner Damian Pardo.

The filing details that "temporary banners, building wraps, and related promotional displays associated with GTA 6 within Downtown Miami would further enhance the visibility and public experience associated with the promotional and release period," yet these must be subject to "limitations relating to duration, annual use, maximum size, and location."
It specifically denotes that the displays must be taken down no later than December 31, 2026, although that would be over a month after the game's release, must last no longer than a consecutive period of 56 days, and must only be subject to the predesignated 'event area' of:
- Northeast 5th Street on the North
- The Miami River on the South
- Biscayne Bay on the East
- Northeast 2nd Avenue on the West
Additionally, any banners exceeding 5,000 square feet would still require approval from the City of Miami, and would cost an additional $208,000 in order to apply. Banners exceeding 10,000 square feet are also not allowed under any circumstances.
When will GTA 6's marketing campaign in Miami start?
While the limitations over the consecutive time period for this marketing campaign could change the start date, the filing indicates that the promotion in Miami is set to begin on October 15th at the earliest.

This makes sense considering it's just over a month before the game comes out on November 19th, giving plenty of time for people to get excited and soak in the atmosphere of the temporary Vice City environment.
Part of the reason why Miami City approved these plans was the fact that it "presents an opportunity to further highlight Miami as an international center for entertainment, technology, media, tourism, and creative industries."
