It's that time of year again, and as the gaming world embraces the spooky season, it just wouldn't be Halloween without Fortnite's annual Fortntiemares.
First going bump in the night in 2017, the celebration adds new weapons, POIs, and challenges to the battle royale favorite. Let's be honest, the real reason we flock to Fortnitemares is to add a new roster of horror icons to our locker.
Previous collabs have brought the likes of video game icon Chris Redfield, Evil Dead's Ash Williams, and The Nightmare Before Christmas' Jack Skellington, but in 2025, it looks like Epic Games has spared no expense.
As well as the long-awaited arrival of Friday the 13th's Jason and Scream's Ghostface, Fortnitemares 2025 has confirmed a Scooby-Doo crossover and a likeness of Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams.

All of this is rounded off with a Doja Cat skin that follows in the footsteps of previous music divas like Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, and Lady Gaga. The new trailer shows Doja Cat emerging from a giant rose while accompanied by thorns.
The official blog post for the event explains: "Fear gets a new face. Meet the Mother of Thorns, Doja Cat, who’s twisting Battle Royale into her haunted kingdom and unleashing chaos with a wild cast of characters. From Jason to Wednesday Addams to Scooby-Doo and Ghost Face, VIPs of fright await."
Epic Games' announcement video came alongside a supposed social media takeover where Doja Cat was meant to post on the official Fortnite account. Doja isn't exactly known for being family-friendly, so there were already a few raised eyebrows about her being in Fortnite.

Still, things took a bizarre turn when the account posted about a Doja being the "mother of rose toys." As a Rose Toy is a type of sex toy, both Epic Games and Doja herself were soon called out.
An enraged Doja then posted from her actual X account beneath the Fortnite post, adding: "I told them not to. Man, that’s not even me. I said this yesterday and then said ‘Don’t post that'."
Her rant continued as she continued: "Lord someone knock on the cubicle at Fortnite headquarters. Right now they’re tweeting about sex toys [and] acting like I’m tweeting that sh*t."

It's unclear what's actually going on here, with some claiming that Doja was caught out and it was she who posted the joke as part of her social media takeover. Still, she responded by maintaining she'd never write that "to a bunch of kids."
The original post and Doja's replies have since been deleted, but as we know the internet never forgets, the screenshots have already been saved.
Backers Games amplified the situation and wrote: "I may lose my partnership with Epic, but the marketing team is so disgusting for posting ts without even getting the permission from Doja Cat."
Someone else added: "Well this whole Doja tweeting on Fortnite's account thing was a major disaster."

Another concluded: "I think what happened is she had to tell whoever manages the Fortnite Twitter account what to write and what to post, and she said to post that as a joke, but whoever is managing misinterpreted her and posted it anyway cause this sounds very much like something she would say."
Well, it looks like Fortnitemares is off to a flying start.
