Samsung users have something to look forward to as a free software update is on the horizon.

Despite the release of its latest Galaxy S24 models, the Korean technology giant hasn't forgotten about its older models.

Instead, it's bringing the newest features found on the S24 to existing Samsung phones.

The update, called One UI 6.1, is focused heavily on Galaxy AI. The tech company hopes that by bringing in many AI-integrated features, many processes will be automated allowing for a better user experience for most Galaxy users.

Set to roll out before the end of March, UI 6.1 launches Live Translate which translates phone calls in real-time to and from foreign countries.

Additionally, Chat Assist will help users change the tone of their message to suit who they are chatting with.

Similar to ChatGPT, the AI model can switch languages depending on whether you're emailing your boss or replying to a friend.

Other AI upgrades include Circle to Search which allows users allowing users to circle something in an image that can be instantly Google searched to identify it.

Meanwhile, Note Assist is designed for those who enjoy note-taking or are studying. The feature can automate different formats and summaries of documents so they can be digested more easily.

Instead of downloading third-party software, Galaxy users will be able to use Transcript Assist, which will transcribe recordings or interviews into fully editable text.

Those who love snapping photos and videos on their devices will also be pleased to hear that additional ways to edit things are coming in this release.

Generative Edit will also be added, allowing more customisation and editing of photos.

Users will be able to resize, reposition, or realign objects within seconds.

The added extra of Edit Suggestion is the icing on the cake for those who want to share Instagram-worthy photos.

You can expect to see the available update if you own one of the following models:

  • Galaxy S23 series
  • S23 FE
  • Z Fold5
  • Z Flip5
  • Tab S9 series

TM Roh, president and head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics said: 'Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI, but also to empower users by making AI more accessible.

'This is only the beginning of Galaxy AI, as we plan to bring the experience to over 100 million Galaxy users within 2024 and continue to innovate ways to harness the unlimited possibilities of mobile AI.'
