There is a little known iPhone feature that has the ability to vastly improve the quality of your phone calls.
As Apple fans are anxiously awaiting the launch of iOS 26, which is due to drop next month, the tech giant has now released its fourth instalment of the beta version.
The latest version was made available last Monday (August 18), giving iPhone users the chance to try out some of the new features before they become public.
The new iOS brought in features such as call screening but there is another function that you might not be aware of.

Voice Isolation is a little known feature and it’ll help to make your phone calls clearer to the person you’re chatting to.

This could completely transform the quality of your calls and while Apple first introduced the feature back in 2023, it is still yet to be discovered by many users.
When a device activates Voice Isolations, it muffles any background noise that could be distracting for the person on the other end.

This includes things like other conversations in a coffee shop, construction noises, or even a dog barking.
How can you enable Voice Isolation on an iPhone?
In order to activate the feature, you’ll first need to be on a call because unlike other feature, this one can’t be found in the Settings app.
Swipe down from the top right corner of your screen, which is where you’ll be able to access the Control Center.

From there, click on Phone Controls at the top of the screen and select Voice Isolation.
Once it’s enabled, Voice Isolation will remain active until you manually turn it off.
However, this isn’t the only feature that might come in handy when making calls.

Also located in Phone Controls is Wide Spectrum and Automatic.
These two functions are actually different mic modes which you can enable for calls.
Wide Spectrum will amplify the sounds in the background without affecting your own voice, which can come in handy when conducting a group call.
However, the feature is currently only available for FaceTime calls.

Automatic, on the other hand, can be used in regular calls and when enabled, it will automatically choose the best mode for your call.
On its website, Apple explains: “For example, Automatic uses Voice Isolation to block ambient noises during calls using the receiver, and it uses the Standard mic mode for calls using the speakerphone.”
