Last month, Apple revealed a company-wide first when it unveiled its first ever foldable phone, the iPhone Duo.
The tech giant shared that the device was innovated with a thin screen layer to minimize the visibility of a crease along the screen where it folds, and when unfolded, will be their thinnest model yet.
The hinge was also engineered to support the device, with Apple stating: “The central structural plane has support ribs for added stiffness. To make the frame even more rigid, the antenna splits are reinforced with high performance inserts. They’re made from ceramic fibers that are three times stronger than grade five titanium. Together these structural details make iPhone Duo feel exceptionally solid every time you use it.”
The new smartphone does come with a hefty price tag, with prices for the device starting at $1,999.

Now, fans are anxiously awaiting for the device to be released, with it expected to hit shelves on October 23, with pre-orders starting from October 16.
How to ‘get ready’ for Apple’s new iPhone Duo
Ahead of the release, Apple have now shared information on how you can ‘get ready’ for the device.
On the Apple website, it outlines how pre-orders don’t begin until 5am PT on the 16th, but encourages fans to ‘come back’ on the 12th to ‘get ready for pre-order’.
Many people have taken to social media to speculate on what Apple could mean by this, with one user writing on Reddit: “It says 10.12 to get ready for pre order, and the 16th to actually place it. Assuming we can put it in our cart for faster checkout?”
And another added: “The advantage to this is that you can get your order in very quickly if you plan ahead.”

According to a report by MacRumors, this option enables consumers to ‘select a preferred color and capacity, confirm their carrier status, choose accessories, choose an AppleCare+ plan, select a trade-in, add a payment method, and set a shipping and billing address’.
This means that when pre-orders do go live, all you have to do is click once to order.
This might end up being crucial if you’re hoping to get your hands on the device as, according to MacRumors, supplies of the iPhone Duo are set to be limited.
Apple also revealed its latest model of iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which was released in September.
